Lugano & Como: Days 8 & 9

Lugano and Como are unarguably beautiful places. Sadly, the weather didn't wish to cooperate and showcase this, and it rained the whole time. As someone very wise once said "Die Stimmung war schlecht; die Lage war ersnt". Having roughly 75 blisters after my hiking of the previous days didn't exactly help either. But regardless, this is an exceptional place.
The shopping street of Lugano.
Lake Lugano.
The temple I was sketching, which I found out is actually a monument to the inventor of the battery, Volta, who was born in Como. Learn something new every day.

In the streets of Como.
Lake Como.
Spent some quality time on these stairs.
A very epic looking gentleman overlooking the lake.
One of the most striking things about Italy and southern Switzerland is the way people behave. After being surrounded by the extremely reserved Danes to which I've become accustomed, it's almost disconcerting how outgoing and friendly people are here. In one day I managed to meet a jocular older gentleman on the train who spoke to me at length about the beauty of friendship. And a guy in the park in Como who explained to me what the building that I was sketching was a monument to. Good times.
As a side note: the bathroom of an Italian train station. One can only assume that 'public restroom' is synonymous with 'desperation' here.

  1. That's funny that Danes are reserved because Czechs are too. Talking to a stranger on the metro would be absolutely unheard of.

Haha, some of the public bathrooms (or even in homes) in India are like that too
